Reflection guide against gender-based violence for religious leaders

Back to overview

Women play a key role in the community fabric. We should admit that some religious teachings and affiliations devalue women and make them vulnerable to abuse, while other religious texts and teachings can serve as resources to inspire women leadership and to provide safety and healing to those who have experienced abuse. In the context of violence against women, religious teachings and communities will play a role; they will never be neutral.

Mensen met een Missie and its Ugandan partner network Faith Voice Uganda have developed a reflection guide for faith leaders in light of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. This guide can support religious leaders in condemning Violence Against Women, using scripture as part of their strategy.
