Video: Women, Peace and Security in the Great Lakes

Back to overview

In the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi, conflict and inequality continue to shape daily life, especially for women and girls. Through MAnU 2.0 – Mwanamke, Amani na Usalama (Women, Peace and Security), Mensen met een Missie and its partners have worked to change that.

Funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and implemented together with CARE Nederland and Synergy of Women for Peace and Reconciliation (SPR), the programme put women at the centre of peacebuilding. By training community mediators, supporting local leaders, and transforming harmful norms, MAnU 2.0 helped thousands of people find new ways to live, lead, and resolve conflict peacefully.

This video offers a glimpse into that journey. It shows the realities faced by communities in DRC and Burundi, the impact MAnU has made, and why continued support is essential to ensure this work can go on.
