Violence against women is a serious problem in Bolivian society. Seven in ten women experience physical or sexual violence. In 2012 a law was passed to protect women against violence. Unfortunately daily practice is different.

Our approach

Mensen met een Missie is training young people and victims as ambassadors against violence. We offer psychological, social and legal support to the victims and are actively lobbying local and national authorities.

Results

In five years 5000 women have participated in our training programmes and 3000 victims have received support. Police officers have been trained in dealing with victims. An increasing number of (young) men is reached and meeting places have been created where violence and the suppression of women can be discussed.
